Open call for artists, writers, and creators

A MENTORING OPPORTUNITY

This open call is for any artist who is at an early stage of their art career.  This is not age-restricted, as long as you meet the criteria below.

If you are in your third year of an art degree, an MA / MLitt, or are in the first three years of your art practice and would like to have 3 x one-hour sessions 1:1, one a month for three months (via Zoom or Teams) to bounce ideas, ask advice, gain practical steps and support from the Haus-a-rest team then apply here.

Please note there is no funding for this opportunity, it is your chance to be mentored by our artists who have been around the block to offer support and suggestions to help support your art journey.

Open call for Art submissions to Issue 48 The studio

OPEN CALL for Art & Writing... /// closes 27th March 2024 ///

The studio is a creative space but if this concept is expanded what form would the studio take? Is the studio, any place that enables creativity and can it become the work itself?

The studio space can reflect the artist and restrain the artist by its very nature. How has your creative space informed and changed your art practice?  And what of the virtual or conceptual studio?

For this issue we want to see behind the scenes, to see the space that you use to create your work.  We are especially interested  if your work is the creative space as we would love to see this and understand your rationale and the practicalities of making your studio your artwork.

We are seeking work that challenges and tackles the subject in a unique way.

We are media inclusive so please submit whatever form works for you. We can accept films on Youtube and Vimeo.

Your submission should be an exploration and response to this and be part of your current practice and dialogue.

You will need to submit:

1) A good quality image of your work  - up to three images (please do not send us thumbnail images).

2) Three lines of text to explain your concept,  why you made the piece, and any obstacles you had to overcome.

3) Your Instagram name so we can tag you.

4) If you want to join our mailing list - Y / N?

Your work will not be accepted if you do not provide the requested items. If accepted your work will be featured in the Zine, Instagram and FB for a least one month, and very likely for several. We do not guarantee to keep your work listed after the issue has ended.

Please note:

* We love to see short films. We accept Vimeo and YouTube only. Please make sure they are set to public.

* Please only submit work that is resolved and meets the theme.
